The Mothman is the name given to a creature reported in the Charleston and Point Pleasant areas of West Virginia between November 12, 1966, and December 1967
A number of hypotheses have been presented to explain eyewitness accounts, ranging from misidentification and coincidence, to paranormal phenomena and conspiracy theories.
The Mothman phenomenon is sometimes associated with a mystery man named Indrid Cold, although the relationship between the two varies from story to story, as well as in the big-budget movie The Mothman Prophecies.

Introduction To Mothmen
Mothman. That's what the Ukranians called him. Rough translation, of course. There were sightings in Chernobyl the year the nuclear plant went down. Galveston, just before the hurricane.
In the first reported case in 1877 a man observed what looked like a human male with bat-like wings, soaring over buildings in Brooklyn. NY, about 3 years later there were multiple reports of the same creature flying over Coney Island, Brooklyn, the being was noted as having a very stern or evil look to his face.

Mothmen: A Study In Applied Mythography

The goal of this site is to bring together the true story of the most amazing phenomenal creature and events to appear since biblical times.  Mothman, or Mothmen, are a real phenomena experienced by hundreds (if not thousand) around the world, and continue to be sights up to today.

While skeptics may disagree with the validity of assertions, and eye witness accounts, regardless of the interpretation, none can deny that these events happened.  We hope this website provides you with an introduction, on up to an in depth understanding of this incredible phenomena.

Mothman:

What exactly is a Mothman?

Is it a flying bug exterminator?  Someone who jumps out of planes with wings?  An entomologist?  Someone attracted to bright lights?

Or, is it perhaps, an extraordinary repeating contemporary phenomena, that has affected the lives of thousands, possibly millions, around the world since the beginning of recorded history?

Here Is What We Know

An Eye Withness Drawing Of MothmanA Mothman is a creature or an entity, natural or supernatural, of unknown origin, of unknown existence, unknown capability, and unknown motive.

How Mothmen came to be is important.  However, why Mothman is here is more important.  Are they architects of destruction and disaster?  Are they passive observers, witnessing history in the making?  Or, are they here to partake in our collective suffering and despair?  Whatever their motivation and intent, it is clearly not human, and perhaps by definition incomprehensible to us.

Here we will attempt to introduce you to the phenomena known as Mothman, and possibly connect other phenomena to it.  Regardless of the reality of Mothmen, they have captivated our collective culture, and help make us aware that this world is more out there than our perceived reality permits.

In the movie "The Mothman Prophecies", the character John Klein asked Indrid Cold:

"What do you look like?"

Indrid Cold (The Mothman?) replied:

"It depends on who is looking."

The same can be said for reality as a whole!  It depends on who is doing the looking!

As Isaac Asimov said:

"It's not what you see that is suspect, but how you interpret what you see"
